David Middlebrook

David (Dave) Middlebrook is an attorney and the managing partner of Middlebrook Goodspeed, (“The Church Lawyers”), a firm focused on churches, ministries, and clergy. Middlebrook advises clients and colleagues on an array of church and ministry-related legal issues, including corporate governance, employment law, risk management, intellectual property, and compensation practices.
Middlebrook earned his law degree from Southern Methodist University Law School and his undergraduate degree from Oral Roberts University. He holds certifications in Nonprofit Management from the University of Texas at Austin and Risk Management for Churches and Schools from Cambridge University.
Middlebrook is the author of Nonprofit Law for Religious Organizations: Essential Questions and Answers (John Wiley & Sons) and The Guardian System (Charisma House), which received a Christian Book Award from the Evangelical Christian Publishers Association. He has contributed numerous articles for publication regarding church and clergy legal issues, and frequently speaks at conferences and seminars.
