James E. Guinn is a founding shareholder of Guinn, Smith & Company, Inc. Since inception, Guinn, Smith & Company has primarily been involved with providing tax, auditing, and accounting services for religious organizations.

James has been in the accounting profession for over 45 years. He currently represents various religious organizations before the Internal Revenue Service. He has consulted with the general public, ministers, and employees of religious organizations with regard to IRS requirements. In recent years, he has provided litigation support to attorneys involved in church embezzlement and misappropriation cases.

Out of his experiences, he has written several reference books for nonprofit organizations and numerous articles addressing problems the IRS encounters in carrying out its function of ensuring compliance of tax-exempt organizations.
