A 22-foot-tall statue of Jesus, with outstretched arms, was erected in 1954 at the Mother Cabrini Shrine in Colorado. On May 19, 2007, a bolt of lightning struck the statue and knocked off both of Jesus’ arms. A spokeswoman for the shrine, in a public statement, assured the faithful that Jesus was insured, and that the statue will be rebuilt with insurance proceeds.
