How accurate is the advice you receive from the IRS toll-free telephone assistance program? According to the recent General Accounting Office survey, IRS telephone responses are "accurate and complete" about 62% of the time. Unfortunately, many persons falsely assume that any advice they receive from the IRS, on any subject, is accurate. IRS Commissioner Gibbs recently expressed reservations about GAO's "methodology."
