• Private schools may be eligible to seek a deferral until May 9, 1989 of the October 12, 1988 deadline for submitting an asbestos management plan to their state government. Deferrals will only be granted if several conditions are satisfied. First, a school must submit an application for deferral to the appropriate state office. Second, the application must explain why, despite good faith efforts, the school will not be able to meet the original October 12, 1988 deadline for submitting an asbestos management plan.
