A civil court has the authority to prevent former board members from dissipating church assets and interfering in the management of the church, ruled an Illinois appeals court. The court noted that the public reputation of the church was suffering, and that there had been no accounting of church expenditures or receipts in over five years. First Church of Deliverance v.
